School Year Childcare Programs: 2024-2025 School Year
"It is a happy talent to know how to play"
TSL charges flat monthly rates for all of its year round programs. The rate is equivalent to the market rates established for your individual counties by our state governing bodies (last updated on October 1, 2024) for all of its before and after school program locations. Please inquire within about pricing, either by emailing us at [email protected], using the contact form on the website, or calling us at (518) 273-1100. Market rates may be discounted for prepaid families only.
Please note, half days of care, single days of care, vacation camps, and Summer camp weeks carry their own registration requirement and payment schedules.
Clients who enroll for the before and after school programs should note the following:
• You will pay a $25 non-refundable registration fee
• will pay a $100 deposit used against your fees in your last month of service provided proper notice is given (Out of Pocket paying families only)
• will be invoiced your monthly payment on the first of each month
• will enroll in half day of care, single days of care, vacation camps, and Summer camps separately as needed
• Pick up your child in the operating windows (generally 7:00-5:30, but this varies per site)
TSL serves families of varying needs and we do NOT wish to make our great programs inaccessible to anyone. If our tuition rates create concern and you are not receiving assistance through your local county, you can check if you might be eligible for benefits by clicking here to see if you qualify for tuition assistance. Or download TSL's discount eligibility form to potentially receive ongoing discounts based on our established guidelines. Complete and return it to us at [email protected] and we'll notify you within 24 hours of your eligibility.
*We do accept DSS and WDI subsidy. Email [email protected] to enroll as a subsidized family
Do we pay less during months that include vacation weeks or are otherwise less than 4 weeks long either by accident or design?
No. Before and after school costs include 10 equal monthly payments that are not pro-rated for any reason.
Yes. District buses will transport your children to our location, and parents are responsible for pick-up. In those locations where we are servicing the schools in-house, the kids will simply come down to us after school.
Though each site frequently does snack activities, we do not offer a formal snack daily. Children are allowed to bring their own snacks and eat them at their convenience. In select locations, Cohoes, snacks are provided by the school.
TSL employs an open play and age-integrated environment that mixes organized and free play activities aligned with a company-created annual curriculum. Recreational activities include indoor and outdoor play as well as gym play in locations where a gym is available.
Children in kindergarten through grade 6 participate in the TSL after-school programs. Some sites have students in grades 7 and 8 registered as well. And other sites service children from 3-5 years old. Check with us to see what your specific location offers.
We are open from drop-off until 5:30 p.m. daily at most locations. Some locations are open until 6 p.m.
Yes. Each site location has its own homework time, which is a supervised time where children can sit and complete their homework under the direction of, and with the assistance of, an adult. We do not offer personal tutoring services, however. TSL does not take responsibility for the quality of your child's homework, or if they finish homework or not. Those issues are between parents and children.
We do not separate children by age. Our philosophies are rooted in age-integrated and cooperative play. We foster a holistic community that is all-inclusive. Older children assist younger children, while younger children benefit from the modeling and assistance of older children. That said, children tend to naturally play with kids their own age.
No. Children must be enrolled previously on our website to attend a full day of care or vacation week.
Yes. All staff members submit multiple clearances as required by New York State Office of Children and Family Services or the Department of Health. Many of our staff members are year-round employees of TSL in our after-school programs.
Our ratio is 1:10. Depending on the number of enrollees at each site, our staffing numbers vary.
For cuts, bumps and scrapes, we use soap and water, ice packs, Band-Aids and TLC. Parents or 911 are called in the event of serious injury or sickness.
Yes, we work with local counties in their provision of government subsidies for families in need.
