What Makes a Great Summer Camp Program?

7/4/2017

Summer is usually long and hot! School is out and children are missing their friends. As parents, you don’t want to be pressed about being bored. Before they can even think about it, choose one of the many summer camp programs in Albany and fill that void with fun and adventure for them. Here are some of the benefits you’ll find in one of those programs.

Great Summer Camp Programs are Fun and Enjoyable
  • There are many fun activities. No matter your child’s personality, skill or strength, he or she will always find camp activities to be fun and adventurous. Camp leaders go the extra mile into making each day enjoyable. Whether it is swimming, sports, art and craft, or something educational, kids will want to come back for more because they have so much fun doing them.
  • Camp experience is great. The experience they have is one that will make them want again and again. They’ll talk about camp for a long time to come. The camp experience allows them to develop connections they’ll carry into the future.
  • Lasting friendships are formed. Campers are many and they come from various regions and backgrounds. Camping is the perfect opportunity for kids to find new friends, even for those who are shy or who do not easily fit in into regular social environments. They get to interact with others who share the same interests and skills. This is generally a platform for forming lifetime friendships.

A Great Camp will benefit your Child in Many Ways
  • There are many things to learn. Campers are exposed to many new things – activities, games, and interpersonal skills. Don’t be surprised if your child comes home and offers to make the cookies all by herself. Or, they may want to decorate their rooms differently. You may now be listening to them speak a new language! The things they would not generally do at home are enjoyable.
  • Kids keep fit and active. Programs involve children in a variety of sporting activities, swimming, and nature walks. Apart from the adventure and fun, these are opportunities for them to keep in shape while away from regular school gym sessions.
  • Children become more organized. Programs are highly structured to maintain order and to be successful. Activities are scheduled and kids develop a sense of discipline observing time, adhering to rules and controlling behavior.

Great Camps have Responsible and Engaging Counselors
Children need to be motivated when they attend camp. It therefore demands engaging camp counselors who can inspire them way beyond their potentials and build their self-esteem. Children will appreciate those who do not only create the fun, but also join in and interact with them. Camp leaders are passionate and impactful and the best ones will be remembered and talked about.

Great Programs have a Variety of Activities
Organizers know how to fill kids’ days with a variety of programs. Kids at all stages and their parents look forward to opportunities for lots of physical activities. Kids can go horseback riding, swimming, playing games, go through obstacles, and nature exploration. Camp programs may target kids who are strong in particular areas such as art, music, cooking and languages. All in all, camp programs are not monotonous, but inviting.

Every child should have summer camps on their calendars. There are great benefits to be derived. Look for a camp with a great program and get your child involved. Questions, reach out to TSL Adventures!

I've been trying to decide if I should send my son to an overnight camp program. Your information that he will be able to form a lasting friendship is swaying my decision. It would be great for him to do as you say in your article and find friends even though he is shy in school.
