Child care programs should supplement parenting and even go beyond in providing the best environment for a child. You need to do relevant initial research to get a daycare which meets your expectations. Cognitive skills are the primary elements your brain uses to think, read, learn, remember the reason, pay attention, and solve problems. If any aspect of your cognitive skills is weak, then any incoming information won’t be processed in the best way. A majority of quality child care programs enhance a child’s cognitive capabilities in the following ways: Sustained attention - Children are taught how to focus and stay on a task for a period of time. This develops child abilities to start and finish projects successfully without losing focus. Since majorities of activities are planned a child adapts to that and becomes used to doing something for a period. Develop Selective attention capabilities - This is training a child to concentrate on a certain task despite distractions. For example, if they are being taught to dance any child who tries to stray and go to play is restrained from doing that. This ensures they concentrate on the matters in hand. Develop Divided attention capabilities - This enables a child to remember information when doing two things at the same time. In daycare, a child may be trained to jump rhythmically while still singing a particular song.
Develop Long-term memory through a treasure hunt - This is concerned about remembering something you did in the past for example during evaluation tests or each day recoup of what the children did yesterday helps develop their long term memory. Also hiding an object and asking the child to search and bring the object to you develops this skill. Develop a working memory through cause and effect technique - This develops the skill to retain relevant information for a period of time. For example, a child may be trained to how to build a tower with blocks. Develop logic and reasoning skill - Children are taught how to be self-dependent and get solutions to certain problems on their own. Let the child differentiate a good thing from a bad thing. These on a minor count can be done through exposing the child to different texture or friendly and terrifying images. Auditory processing through sound discovery - Children are taught how to recognize various sound elements and how to spell and pronounce letters. They also learn that different objects produce different sounds. This makes them develop learning and writing skills with ease. Visual processing - This enables a child to think in terms of what images they saw. This is taught by using drawing and images to convey messages. For example, drawing a bus, cat, etc on the wall or on the book and then naming it as a ‘bus’ makes it easier for the child to interlink the connection between the image and the written word. Developing processing speed - This is done by offering children timed assignments to complete within a given time frame. Most of the people still struggle to keep their children under home self-care since they wonder “how can quality child care enhance my child’s cognitive abilities?” A quality program will definitely enhance your child’s cognitive capabilities in a positive way. They learn way more of exactly what they need for a healthy development. However, if you are not fully convinced that child care will enhance your child’s cognitive capabilities in a positive way, then you can visit any child care center and do more inquiries while raising your specific concerns.
