Leaders in Training Program
Program Purpose
TSL Lids Crew Leaders in Training (LIT) program is aimed at giving teens who are interested in pursuing a career in childcare relative work experience in the field. Our program focuses on developing interpersonal skills, responsibility, and leadership all while participating in our unique, community-centered summer camp program. LITs are responsible for engaging children in games and crafts, assisting staff in daily responsibilities, and setting a positive example while leading children in small group activities. The LIT program is strictly capped at each location.
Qualifications
Children aged 13-15, interested in the program must submit the application below, to be considered for the LIT Program.
LIT Leadership Fund
TSL has established a Leadership Fund to award LIT give backs. Each site has a set budget from which to award their LITs.
Program Directors will distribute give backs based on LIT performance at the end of the summer. Awards may range anywhere from $25-$200 and will be issued based upon the following criteria: years of service as a LIT, performance as a LIT, the number of weeks of service, and participation in the June training.
------
After Acceptance to the LIT Program
Directors typically respond to applications within a week. Once children are accepted, parents can enroll them as regular campers on the website. All stipends are awarded no later than September 30 following the given camp season.
The program runs for 8-9 weeks over summer and LITs may attend as few or as many weeks as they wish.
LIT aged kids that are
not accepted
into program MAY be able to be enrolled in the LIT program to gain more experience for the next summer
with director approval.
Any LIT not approved may be enrolled as a regular camper!
